There are a little over 8 miles of trails at this park. Not only will can your family check out the flora and fauna when camping at this site, you can also explore a pioneer log house, remnants of a Spanish mission as well as work performed by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
WHAT TO SEE
The best time for a family camping trip to Mission Tejas is spring or fall. Not only is the weather great, but in late March, families and enjoy the blossoming dogwoods and in the fall, the forest is full of beautiful fall colors.
WHERE TO STAY
For your family camping trip, there are 15 sites with electricity and water. Two sites are water only. There is one group camping site.
WHERE TO EAT
There is a group picnic site at the park. Fires are only permitted in the campfire ring at each camp site, but gathering of firewood is not permitted. There is no restaurant at the park.
BEST HIKES FOR FAMILIES
A fun hike for families is the CCC Bathtubs. It's an interesting rock feature to check out.
BEST TIPS FOR KIDS
Mission Tejas State Park has a junior ranger program. Ask for a free junior ranger journal. You can also borrow an explorer pack filled with tools to help you explore the park.
In addition to ranger talks, consult the park calendar before visiting. There are often special programs at the park where they have special demonstrations, performances, and games around pioneer life in Texas.
You can also geocache at the park. Ask the ranger station if they have a GPS unit for you to use.
Bring your fishing gear to fish at this park. No license needed.
