Banff National Park may truly be one of the most beautiful places on earth. Banff and the surrounding areas are exquisite. Even when it's crowded, it is an enjoyable place to visit.
WHAT TO SEE
If you’ve got kids, you won’t want to miss the Banff Gondola, which takes visitors up Sulphur Mountain. Even if you’re there on a cloudy day, the ride is beautiful. At the top, you’ll find a fascinating visitor center and you can even take a walk on the boardwalk up to the weather tower, where you can take in the expansive, amazing, views. Next, head to Lake Louise, one of the most magnificent views in the Rocky Mountains. Take a hike up to the 100+ year-old- Lake Agnes Tea House. Just remember, the cafe only takes cash.
WHERE TO STAY
There are 13 camping grounds in Banff, all operated by Parks Canada. The towns of Banff and Lake Louis have a number of hotels.
WHERE TO EAT
There are a number of restaurants in the town of Banff as well as Lake Louise.
BEST HIKES FOR KIDS
At Lake Louise, hike up to the quaint Lake Agnes Tea House to enjoy some tea and sandwiches. The trail up to the tea house is a little over 3km. The trail is smooth but steep, and should be easy for most kids. Bring money, because it is cash only.
BEST TIPS FOR KIDS
If you’ve got toddlers or any children in strollers, check out the Bow River Trail, which is a flat, paved walking path that follows the Bow River through the town of Banff. It can be used to access the Banff Recreation Grounds, which has a playground.
